To Our Valued Customers,

During these uncertain times, it is important that we share information with you about how we are managing COVID-19 and provide accurate updates to all of you.

Early this week we learned that a temporary employee of Pacific Research Labs/Sawbones was diagnosed with a confirmed case of COVID-19. Here are the facts about the case and what we are doing to protect our employees, their families, and our community.

The employee diagnosed lives in Tacoma and commuted to our facility in our company provided ride-share van. His last day on Vashon Island was March 6th. He was diagnosed on March 10th. Once we learned of the diagnosis, we alerted the King County Health Department (KCHD) and asked for guidance regarding protocols for managing potential exposure and mitigating risk.  Based on the KCHD recommendation, all six employees who commute to work in the ride-share van are on a 14-day quarantine as are five other employees who worked in close contact with the employee.  We continue to monitor the situation and are checking with these quarantined employees daily.

When news of the virus began to circulate back in early January, we took extra measures to keep our plant and office a clean and safe place to work, adding additional sanitizing and deep cleaning routines to our usual cleaning practices as well as additional hand-sanitizing stations at every entrance. This includes sanitizing surfaces, common areas, and equipment throughout the day. We have continually communicated with all employees the importance of self-care and good hygiene that is recommended by all health agencies and are promoting the practice of self-managed social distancing.

While this has been stressful for our employees, their families, and our community, know that, as a company, we pride ourselves on providing a safe place to work and caring for our employees.  All employees have time-off and leave options available as needed for themselves, for caring for family members, and those who are able have the option of working from home. We will continue to closely monitor information and follow recommendations from the CDC and KCHD.

Our plant is open and operational.  We do have some absences outside of the quarantined employees for a variety of reasons which means we are running lean.  We are known for our service, quality and on time delivery. We plan to continue to do our best to meet expectations and uphold that reputation for our team as well as for you, our valued customers.

We have a culture that is strong and steeped in the values of teamwork, respect, compassion, and trust. We want you to know that the welfare of our PRL/Sawbones team, their families, and our community are our top priority and appreciate your continued trust in our company.

Sincerely,

Norine Martinsen
