Production Apprentice - Injection Molding

Full Time, Four 10 Hour Days, Schedule TBD
(Wage Range: $21.00 - $23.23 per hour - DOE)

Summary

Makes artificial bones using molds in one or more of the following areas: Box press, bag press, composite, spine, menisci, cortical, and flex foam areas.

Essential Duties

One or more of these duties may be applicable depending on the particular area: Obtain daily production plan & verify proper molds; set up molds & presses; use injection machine &/or other methods such as pressure pot; pouring by cup, or vacuum assist to fill molds with material (may include use of blenders); cut plastic tubing to proper length; use proper mold release; trim parts as needed; apply skin type material to mold before injection; use correct component part or inserts in mold; mix fiberglass with resins; de-mold & inspect product for quality; repair/rework product if needed; use calculator & scale to ratio & weigh out material; stock supplies; clean & prep equipment as needed; count & document parts accurately; move product as needed for each operation with proper documentation; meet established productivity levels, quality standards, & deadlines; use computer to access & input information; cross train in all department areas; wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required; follow appropriate safety precautions; maintain orderly & clean work station; participate in continuous improvement effort; assist others as directed by Supervisor; Assist Supervisor as directed; perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Ability to grasp, open, close, and move molds using hands and wrists; ability to lift, hold and move or carry product and bins (lift up to 30 lbs regularly and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.); ability to stand for entire shift, excluding breaks and lunch; ability to recognize and match different colors of resins and materials; ability to use equipment such as hand grinder, scissors, knives, hammers, blenders, dispensing machines, air presses, production ovens; ability to use thermoset and thermoplastic resins and additives; ability to handle hot molds and product, up to 200 degrees (using proper PPE);ability to cross train and rotate to all molding areas; ability to climb 10’ ladder; ability to use scale; ability to use basic math skills and a calculator; ability to use respirator equipment; ability to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; ability to push, pull, pry, bend, squat and reach; ability to attend to detail; ability to see close up, peripherally, and have depth perception; ability to meet and maintain productivity levels; ability to meet deadlines; ability to meet quality standards; ability to follow verbal, video and written procedures and instructions; ability to perform repetitive routine production procedure; ability to perform all job duties accurately; ability to maintain an organized, clean work area; ability to understand and use different types of basic computers and touch screens; ability to use Metric and English measurement systems with a ruler, tape measure or calipers.
